Indicators are signs or symptoms of abuse. They may be physical or behavioral and should capture our attention. Of special note: Not all victims or abusers will exhibit some, any or all of the signs or symptoms of abuse. The following are guidelines, not recipes. Victims do not always have the appearance of their victimization; indeed, their life may depend on looking perfectly normal to the onlooker, just as abusers may not necessarily look like abusers.
